Large metal letters reading Gateshead Railway Quarter fixed to the stone wall of the railway viaduct, with a small green door below, a lamp post and a bridge plate on the pier, and a lit passage through the arch on the right
The council's Railway Quarter lettering on the viaduct at Hills Street, beside bridge LEN3-319. September 2026.

Hills Street runs under the railway viaduct next to Station East, through bridge LEN3-319, which has 16 ft of headroom. It is one-way and is not a way in or out of the estate by car; see getting in and out.

The council has put its “Gateshead Railway Quarter” lettering on the viaduct wall here, as it has over the arch on High Level Road. The bridge plate on the pier gives the railway’s number for reporting a vehicle striking the bridge: 01904 718074. Quote the bridge number, LEN3-319.
