The story in the window
A poster in the shop window, “the story of WazzKutz”, tells how it began (read October 2026). In 2007 the founder was living in Scarborough and could not find a barber who could cut Afro hair; the one he tried “completely ruined” it. He bought the cheapest decent clippers at Argos, a corded WAHL set he still has, and taught himself, practising on his three brothers and his dad. After he moved to Newcastle, a friend he cut for called it “the best haircut I’ve ever had” and set him up with a business account on Instagram. As the clients grew he turned his bathroom into a barbershop, with a chair, mirrors and lights. The poster signs off: “Started from the bathroom, now we’re here.”
