A registered charity (504451) running the national Sea Cadets programme for 10- to 18-year-olds from a riverside unit on Pipewellgate, a few minutes down the bank from the estate. Parade nights are Monday and Thursday evenings; in the boating season, April to August, the Thursday session gives way to time on the water. Email gatesheadseacadets@tsleviathan.co.uk to ask about joining or volunteering. Not open to the public outside parade nights.
