The building is Colombo; Colombo Square is the space it encloses, not a separate block. The name on the street sign and in addresses refers to the square.
The name
Named for No. 60036 Colombo, a Gresley A3 built at Doncaster in July 1934 and named after the racehorse that won the 1934 2000 Guineas. The only one of the estate's ten locomotive names for which no Gateshead allocation has been found: it was a Leeds-area engine in the early 1960s and finished at Darlington, withdrawn November 1964 and scrapped by Drapers of Hull. Absence of evidence, not evidence of absence — its full shed history has not been checked.
