Looking from Worsdell Drive into Cameronian Square: a courtyard of allocated parking enclosed on three sides by four- and five-storey flats in render, grey cladding and brick with red stair towers, and signs reading Private Allocated Parking, Residents Only
Cameronian Square from Worsdell Drive, the courtyard enclosed by the three sides of Cameronian. September 2026.

The building is Cameronian; Cameronian Square is the space it encloses, not a separate block. The name on the street sign and in addresses refers to the square.

There is a public defibrillator, available 24 hours, at Cameronian Square (listed under Kingston Property Services, NE8 2DB). In a cardiac arrest call 999 first: the call handler will guide you to it. See Nearest.

The name

Named for No. 60040 Cameronian, a Gresley A3 built at Doncaster in October 1934 and named after the racehorse that won the 2000 Guineas and the Derby in 1931. A North Eastern engine, allocated to Gateshead shed, 52A, at the start of 1962 (the month-by-month record of its moves that year is inconsistent between sources). Withdrawn July 1964 and stored at Gateshead with its nameplates off until it went to Hughes Bolckow at North Blyth for scrap that September.
