Reading these figures

The police publish crimes about two months after the month they happened in, and revise them for a while afterwards, so the latest months can move a little. Each crime is placed at an anonymised point near where it happened, not at the address, so a crime just outside the boundary can be counted inside it and the other way round. Anti-social behaviour covers reports as well as offences.

The district is small, with a pub quarter, a hotel and a main road through it, so its figures are not comparable with a residential street's. For the wider picture and to report a crime, see Northumbria Police on police.uk. In an emergency call 999; otherwise 101.
